Linking Earth Day (4/22) to May Day (5/1), the Climate Convergence will bring labor, environmental, and community groups together in a series of actions defending People, Planet, and Peace over Profit. We're calling for nothing less than a global, emergency green New Deal -- a solution as big as the crisis we face -- and we know it will take a mass uprising to get us there. Having you on board will bring us one step closer to building the kind of movement the planet needs.
In New York, we’re coming together under the motto “Our Labor, our Earth.” Several groups, including System Change Not Climate Change, Occupy the Pipeline, and the Green Party of New York, are planning an Earth Day convergence in the Financial District,
The march’s location is intentional. For many years now, Earth Day has served as little more than an occasion for companies to roll out “greening” initiatives and push "sustainable" products. This year, we are reclaiming Earth Day as a day of popular struggle and participation. And we’re directing our ire at Wall Street—the ultimate source of the social, economic, and environmental crisis we’re in. But this will not be a gloomy occasion! We’ll have puppets, a May pole, lots of revelry, and... plants!
